Gaming

GameSol

A blockchain based game where players compete and earn

Key outcomes

  • Coordinated the work across teams in the United States, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates
  • Delivered updates at a steady and predictable pace
  • Removed obstacles quickly through short, regular meetings

The problem

Many blockchain games lose players before they even start, because owning and using the game’s assets feels complicated. GameSol wanted the opposite: a game that was fun to play in its own right, where owning robots, powers, and maps as collectibles simply added to the fun rather than getting in the way. Two very different kinds of work, the game and the ownership of assets, had to arrive as one.

What I did

  • Brought two very different teams together, the one making the game and the one handling the assets on the Sui blockchain, so they built towards the same thing.
  • Planned play first and ownership second, so the game felt good to play before the ownership of assets was layered on top.
  • Watched over how the game assets were made and used, the robots, powers, and maps, so they behaved consistently everywhere they appeared.
  • Managed each release with care, since every new build had to hold together across both the game and the marketplace at once.

Why it was tricky

Making a game enjoyable is hard enough on its own. Adding real ownership of assets on a blockchain doubles the difficulty, because both have to feel effortless to the player at the same moment. Much of the work was keeping that promise, so that neither the play nor the ownership ever got in the other’s way.

How it turned out

The game and its digital asset features were delivered on the Sui blockchain. The project is live at gamesol.io, where players can take part in battles and own game assets as digital collectibles.
